On 16 th June 1998 the first independent university was established in Legnica. The university was starting without its own material basis or academic didactic staff. In spite of this within a few years the school has become one of the largest of the kind in Poland. The biggest because over nine thousand daily, extramural and post – graduate students are educated here and the area of the didactic hall exceeds 21 thousand square meters.
The building A – there are administrative rooms, lecture halls, language rooms, class rooms, computer study rooms and a weight training room, fitness club, café bar.
The building C - there are, among others: lecture rooms, computer laboratories, language study rooms, classrooms and the university’s library.
The building D - there are specialized sudy romms and laboratories: an Eko study room, biochemical and toxicological laboratory,anatomy study room,electronics and metrology study room,micro-processing engineering study room,e-learning study room,a Socio-Therapeutic Centre which is intended for the socio-therapeutic work with children and youth as well as being a support centre for parents of children with dysfunctional behaviours.
The building E – there are four lecture rooms there for over 1 000 people in total.
Akademic Sports Association
In the year 2001 the Academic Sports Association (AZS) started its activity in the Legnica School, where students have the possibility to develop their sports interests, among others: football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, table tennis, cross - country running, cheerleaders and break-dance. Moreover our student sportsmen have participated in taekwondo, karate, chess, sport climbing, tennis as well as triathlon strength and man's handball.
Students of the Witelon University of Applied Sciences in Legnica organize inside-school championships in many sports disciplines. They also take part in the events of Lower Silesia Inter-School League.
Academic Club of Tourism
The Academic Tourist Club (AKT) established in November 2002 also operates at the School. The club embraces students interested in broadening their knowledge of tourism and recreation both through organizing and participating in various events, such as: white water canoeing, trekking expeditions, extreme rally, sightseeing tour.
